Evolution with Design: Cyrax

I have been wanting to try something different. In fact, I thought it would be a good idea to show and talk about characters', that I have grown to like through my years. Have you ever grown to love characters that have been in video games, movies, comic books, etc.? Well this is your chance to read about how they have evolved.

As cheesy as it may sound, I enjoy seeing how a character will progress over the years, kind of like a band. Will we hear the same old stuff, or will the band try something new? It is the art that keeps us coming back for more. Even though taking a original concept and sculpting it into something new may not always be a good thing, it is quite fun to see a different approach.

There have been many adaptions that I like, but also some that I dislike. For instance: Cyrax, from Mortal Kombat. In my opinion, his original design from Mortal Kombat 3 was far superior then his new appearance from the remake Mortal Kombat. I will let you decide which design you enjoy the most...

About Cyrax

Cyrax is a fictional video game character from the Mortal Kombat series. Created for Midway Games by John Tobias and Ed Boon, Cyrax debuted in Mortal Kombat 3 as a playable character, and has been featured in the newer titles as well. The character has also been featured in Mortal Kombat: Annhilation, portrayed by J.J. Perry, and has also had few merchandise under his name as well. He has been voiced by voice actor Sal Divita.

Cyrax was a Lin Kuei assassin who along with two other members Sektor and Smoke , were created as ruthless and cold-hearted cybernetic assassins. He was assigned to hunt down the renegade, former Lin Kuei member Sub-Zero, as designated unit LK-4D4. Of the three cyborgs, he has become the second to recover his humanity. This is due to the efforts of Sonya Blade and Jax. He has currently allied with them as a token of his appreciation. During the events of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, he was ambushed by Reptile. Although he fought well, his arm console was damaged by Reptile, but with the help of Nitara, she sends Cyrax home to Earth after he retrieves the orb to her. In his Armageddon ending, after defeating Blaze, Cyrax becomes a Human again and forms an alliance with Sub-Zero. The two defeated their Cyborg foes.
